Gone Too Soon
Gone Too Soon
By Lauren Ross
Sorrow there will always be.
A Sorrow felt by you and me.
Your heart will ache, down on your knees,
Why did you get taken from me?
Days will pass…Then weeks…Then years,
And slowly, time will remove the ever present tears.
Though this does not mean you will forget
The heart is strong and will mend yet.
As the days, and months, and years pass by
Our hearts remember how to try
To open up,
Let light back in,
That love of life that shines within.
There will be trials along the way,
But there are also happy days.
When memories dance like butterflies
In crystal clear sunlit skies.
In those moments I know you’re here
And that you’ve acknowledged every tear.
I still weep when I hear that song
And yet this heartache has made me strong.
Taught me that though there may be sorrow,
I alone can make a happier tomorrow.
And with this knowledge
I’ve carried on
Knowing that from my heart
You can never be gone.

Re: Gone Too Soon
Thank you for posting this! I commented on your sheet today how I need to make copies of this to keep since I have to turn yours back into you for the comments. I love this poem, it reminds me of the healing I've felt since my miscarriage last year and almost like a reply to my poem "Twins and I" and what I would say to my babies. I know it means something totally different to you, but it means a lot to me in a different way.
Thanks for sharing it :-)
